What To Do With All Those ZOOM Chat Files

June 29, 20232 min read

If you're anything like me, you diligently save the chat at every Zoom networking event and then...never open it again. You know that chat file is full of great contacts who could help introduce you to new clients, become collaborative partners, or simply raise your visibility, but you never find the time to process the file.

I've got chat files from a year ago that I always meant to go back to. I know there are people in there I wanted to talk with. But it certainly feels too late now.

The other day I met Thomas Gay and he told me about one of his new products that is designed to solve this exact problem!

ChatBridge Connect

This new tool can take those Zoom chat files and sort them so you get people's name, email address, links, and anything they said in the chat. You can then export that as a CSV to add to your email program (or use his other product, EngagePro).

Here's what I did:

  1. I created an automation in my Idea Lab Growth Tools account that when a contact is added with the tag "ZOOM" they are sent an intro email that says I enjoyed meeting them, would like to connect one-on-one and gives them my calendar link

  2. I export the ZOOM chat on ChatBridge Connect and upload the file to Growth Tools. During the upload I tell it to only import new contacts, tag them with "ZOOM," and add their chat comments to the notes for that contact (that way when I have a call with them I can read about them right in their contact listing in my system!)

And that's it. Now those 10, 20, 50, or 200 people I was on Zoom with will get a personal note inviting them to a call. This doesn't add them to my newsletter list but the "book a call" page asks if they would like to be added so there is the opportunity there to grow my list.

Right now the price for ChatBridge Connect is a lifetime offer, but it will move to monthly eventually. There's also a weekly Zoom call with Thomas to learn more about how to utilize the features and to ask questions.

There is so much untapped potential in those Zoom chat files that I know it's going to be worth it to have a tool like this mining it for me!
